Yes, much to some peoples chagrin the statement “some things are worth the wait” is very true. We have become an ‘instant society’ over the last ten plus years or more. We are raising kids who will not know how to function without technology and some of them don’t know what it means to wait.
I am only stating this as I observe it on a daily basis at work. You see I work at MacCafe, the local Apple Premium Service provider here in Toledo. I am the first line of help for our customers, triaging the computers, iPods, iPads, and making appointments for some repairs. So I am usually the first one to deliver the news that you are going to have to wait a week or so for the device to be completely back up and running. Most of the time I unfortunately get the question “What do you mean I have to wait a week for the repair?” or “Can’t you diagnosis it today, order the part it needs and I can bring the computer back when the part is in?”. On rare occasions I will get the parent saying “Don’t worry about how long it takes as they are grounded from it anyway”.
That last comment from the parents always makes me smile, and I tell them they are very brave parents. Those are the parents who know the meaning of “Some things are worth the wait.” but so many, to many personally, come in expecting the repair or purchase to happen within minutes. It is sad really that we as a society have started moving so fast, that we don’t see what is front of us or we are so busy that we don’t take time to stop and smell the roses sort of speak.
Please, from time to time just stop and wait, something amazing just may come across your path and make you smile. I try to stop once in awhile and I know the meaning of the phrase “Some things are worth the wait.” since my parents and grandmothers taught it to me as a child.
